Maclaren to Compensate for Push Chair Injuries

May 13th 2010

Maclaren have agreed to compensate the children who have suffered injuries after getting their fingers caught in the hinge mechanism of various models of their folding pushchairs. So far around 40 families in the UK are set to receive the compensation although there may be many parents out there who have yet to come forward perhaps thinking the accident was in some way their own fault.

The compensation amounts will vary according to the severity of the injuries from £2,500 to £10,000 and will be invested until the children reach the age of 18. Children who were most seriously injured will receive compensation at the higher end of the scale, for example those who need plastic surgery to repair their fingers or even had the tips of their fingers cut off entirely when they became trapped in the hinge mechanism of the pushchair.

Some of the cases go back several years so it is relief for parents whose children were injured to finally see the case come to a conclusion. Although Maclaren do not accept liability, they have agreed to pay full damages to all children affected.
